Shaq Drops $70K at WalMart, Gets Declined For Fraud

Shaq does everything big.  He stands a towering 7 feet 1 inches tall. He dunks big.  He rebounds big. He’s got size 22 shoes.  And he owns 155 Five Guys Burgers joints. The guy is a big personality.  And he is a big spender too.

There is one record that no one can touch –  the largest in-store purchase at Wal Mart in history – $70,000!

Who spends $70,000 at WalMart?  Shaq does.

Shaq Spent So Much That The Fraud Department Thought His Card Was Stolen

About 10 years ago, Shaq was traded to Phoenix from Miami and he needed to furnish his new home. He didn’t have towels. He didn’t have rugs.  He didn’t have furniture.  He wanted to make his home beautiful in a hurry one day, so where did he go?

Why Wal Mart of course.  He was so impatient that he didn’t want to wait and spend time shopping at the mall so he just bought everything in one store and brought it up to the register.

The clerk rang up the purchase and he slid his credit card through to pay.  BAM.  The purchase was declined.  He called AMEX and they told him they declined it because they thought his card was stolen.

Sound familiar.  Well, it makes sense that AMEX thought it was fraud, but Shaq is such a down to earth guy – I guess it makes a lot of sense.  It’s a true, but funny story.
