Man Generates AI Lawyer To Defend Him In Court

Who said old people can’t get creative with AI?

A 74 year old man was scolded by a judge for secretly creating an AI Generated Lawyer to fight for him in court.

In what certainly will go down in the Internet Hall of Fame this video is both shocking and hilarious all at the same time.

Perhaps most shocking is that the judges were entirely unaware the lawyer was AI generated.

A few seconds into the video, one of the judges, confused by the image on the screen, asked Mr. Dewald if the man was his lawyer.

“I generated that,” Mr. Dewald responded. “That is not a real person.”

Jerome Dewald Created The Video

74 year old James Dewald sat patiently in court on March 26th waiting for his chance to argue his point in an employment dispute.

Dewald has received permission to pre-record a video to support him in the case. But instead of recording the video himself, he used AI software to have a fake lawyer argue his case eloquently.

When they pressed play, the courtroom observers were stunned. The artificial lawyer wore a blue collared shirt beneath a beige half-zip sweater, positioned against what appeared to be an upscale virtual background with intentional blurring.

The judge wasn’t buying it an immediately ordered the video to stop.

James, the 74 year old man that created the Avatar stated that he only created the AI generated lawyer because he is a cancer survivor and his throat sometimes gives out.

He said he tried to clone himself but he had technical difficulties so he went with a generic Avatar from the provider.
