Landlords Resort to Fraud on To Snatch Stimulus Funds

People are posting horrifying stories on social media of how their landlords are using the IRS site GetMyPayment to find out if they have received their stimulus checks.

The site allows consumers to type in their social security number and other identifying information to find out if their stimulus checks or payments have been sent.

Joshua Browder posted this exchange between a tenant and their landlord yesterday that says it all.

Apparently, the landlord that did this is a property management company called Forest Grove. This was posted in a Facebook post.

But it doesn’t stop there. Apparently this has become quite a thing as another Reddit user reported that his mother has logged into the system so she could get her hands on his money too.

In a post titled, My Mother Used My SSN to Check My Stimulus Check Status.

You can read what she did here.
