5 Unexpected Benefits of Fighting Fraud From Home

I’m home. I’m working. I’m working at home. Such is our new way of life fraud fighters. And there are few if any exceptions.

Much of the world is on lockdown as we humans collectively fight off this virus together. And we can fight fraud together too.

We know that fraudsters love chaos and they are looking for any way they can to take advantage of people who are in there most vulnerable state. And today, more than ever, people are vulnerable and they need help and protection in every way.

And we can do it from home.

Working From Home is Hard

Some people love working from home. Some people hate it. I am in the latter group.

I love the energy of the office. I love the energy of interaction. I love the dynamic nature of working together to solve fraud.

And that is much harder from home. It’s easy to lose motivation. To feel without purpose. To feel alone in the world without purpose.

There are Unexpected Benefits of Working From Home

Working remotely for the next month or two is the norm. 50% or more of Americans will work from home over the next month. Last year, 5% of the workforce worked from home, but this year it will jump to over 50%.

That means that 80 million people will stop commuting and just hop out of bed in their underwear (or whatever) and switch on their computer and start taking calls right from home.

So what are the unexpected benefits of working from home and fighting fraud?

Here are 5 unexpected benefits that we can all relate to.

#1 – You Can Sleep In A Bit More

Guess what? Since you don’t have to get dressed up and do your long commute you can sleep in. Most fraud fighters can sleep an extra 45 minutes every day.

Now that is something everyone can appreciate.

#2 – No Shaving Required To Fight Fraud

Fellas this for you. The fact is, since you don’t have to go into the office, you don’t have to shave anymore. This means you save on razors, shaving cream and time.

Big win for the guys! You can fight fraud without shaving.

#3 – You Can Fight Fraud in Your Underwear for Once

Not that you should. You probably shouldn’t actually. But if worse, came to worse and you had to, well that is your prerogative.

If you’re working from home, you can now fight fraud in your underwear and no one can say anything about it.

So fraud fighters, go ahead and fight fraud in your underwear from home if you are so inclined.

#4 – You Can Focus Without Distraction

Fighting fraud takes focus and concentration. With complete focus, you can identify those signals and clues that you otherwise might miss in the office when you are rushing off to meeting after meeting.

One of the benefits of working from home is that you can focus exclusively on the matter at hand. Fewer meetings, fewer interruptions and more time to do what you do best!

#5 – Connect With Your Family When Things Get Tough

For the last 20 years, I have been a fraud road warrior, traveling 150,000 miles or more every year. I always wanted to have more time at home with my family.

Well, now I can. And I enjoy it. I can go and spend 5-10 minutes with my wife and son whenever things get stressful. Or I can take off work a little early and take a walk to the beach with them.

Now that is maybe the best thing about working from home. We’re all in this together. Let’s take time to appreciate how wonderful it is we can all be together more.

Stay healthy, happy and motivated!
