Hackers Can Bypass ChatGPT Controls To Create Malware

It’s a cat-and-mouse game in Ai generated malicious content, and we’re already seeing it play out daily.

This week, Check Point researchers posted a blog revealing how hackers have already figured out how to bypass OpenAi’s malware restrictions and are actively selling the capability on messaging platforms like Telegram.

To prevent hackers and scammers from using ChatGpt for evil purposes, OpenAi has blocked the creation of harmful content.

For example, when I tried to create an example of a phishing email, I received this message back from ChatGPT.

But according to CheckPoint researchers, hackers have figured out a clever workaround to ChatGPT’s controls and are using Telegram Bots that they are advertising in dark web channels.

As part of the service, cybercriminals can use ChatGPT for 20 free queries, and then they are charged $5.50 for every 100 queries.

Check Point Researchers Also Identified Russian Hackers Trying To Exploit ChatGPT

Hackers are busy trying to exploit ChatGPT for all sorts of nefarious purposes. Last month, Check Point Researchers reported that Russian hackers are bypassing ChatGPT restrictions imposed by OpenAI

The powerful Ai chatbot is not currently available in Russia because of fears that it could be used as part of criminal activity.

Sergey Shykevich, the threat intelligence group manager at Check Point, believes that hackers want to figure out ChatGPT to become more efficient. “We believe these hackers are most likely trying to implement and test ChatGPT into their day-to-day criminal operations. Cybercriminals are growing more and more interested in ChatGPT, because the AI technology behind it can make a hacker more cost-efficient.
