AI Deepfakes Will Infiltrate Thousands of Zoom Calls

Ai-powered deepfakes in Zoom meetings have arrived. Today, HeyGen announced a new release of their Interactive Avatars, allowing a deepfake version of yourself to attend “thousands of meetings” using your cloned image and voice.

HeyGen announced the release, saying, “Your avatar won’t just look and sound like you; it’ll think, talk, and make decisions, just like you.”

Only Requires Two Minutes of Video

To create the Digital Doppelganger, you (or a fraudster) need only upload two minutes of video, and HeyGen will clone the voice and image of the person in the video.

From there, the Interactive Avatar is set up and can be connected to a Zoom account to attend meetings on your behalf.

HeyGen Interactive Avatar is equipped with Open AI Realtime Voice integration, which lets your avatar hold intelligent, efficient, and timely conversations with any audience.

Your answers will not come from you. They will come from OpenAI responding as you with your voice and your image.

You can further refine the AI Deepfake by providing a “knowledge base” of answers and information so the deepfake really gets to understand your personality and your preferences.

I don’t need to tell you, and you already know this but these Digital Doppelgangers are likely to be abused like crazy.

I hope HeyGen has good security controls!
